Tire Pressure Monitor Reset Procedure

In order to reset (calibrate) the system, turn the exterior lamp control from OFF to parking lamps 3 times within 5 seconds, while the ignition is ON. You may also reset the system through Vehicle Customization Settings using the following procedure:

  1. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and turn the radio off.

  2. Press and hold the DISP button on the radio for at least five seconds until SETTINGS is displayed.

  3. Press the SEEK up and down arrows to scroll through the main menu.

  4. Scroll until TIRE MON appears on the display.

  5. Press the PREV or NEXT button to enter the submenu. RESET will be displayed.

  6. Press the DISP button to reset. A chime will be heard to verify the new setting and DONE will be displayed for one second.

  7. Once the monitor has been reset, scroll until EXIT appears on the display.

  8. Press the DISP button to exit programming. A chime will be heard to verify exit.

The system completes the calibration process during driving.

The system normally takes 15 - 20 minutes of driving in each of three speed ranges to learn tire pressures:

2002 Monte Carlo, Impala

To reset (calibrate) the system. The tire inflation monitor system can be reset by turning the exterior lamp control from OFF to parking lamps three times while the ignition is in ON. It can also be reset through the RDS radio (if equipped) using the following steps:

  1. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and turn the radio off.

  2. Press and hold the DISP button on the radio for at least five seconds until SETTINGS is displayed.

  3. Press the SEEK up or down arrow to scroll through the main menu.

  4. Scroll until TIRE MON appears on the display.

  5. Press the PREV or NEXT button to enter the submenu. RESET will be displayed.

  6. Press the DISP button to reset. A chime will be heard to verify the new setting and DONE will be displayed for one second.

  7. Once the monitor has been reset, scroll until EXIT appears on the display.

  8. Press the DISP button to exit programming.

A chime will be heard to verify exit. The system completes the calibration process during driving.

The system normally takes 15 to 20 minutes of driving in each of three speed ranges to 'learn" tire pressures. The speed ranges are 15 to 40mph (25 to 65 km/h), 40 to 65 mph (65 to 105 km/h) and above 65 mph (105 km/h). When learning is complete, the system will alert you after 2-8 minutes if a tire is 12 psi (83 kPa) different from the other three tires. Detection thresholds may be higher and detection times may be longer on rough roads, curves and at high speeds. The system is not capable of detection at speeds greater than 70 mph (110 km/h).

2000-2001 Lumina

  1. Turn the ignition key to "ON" (engine off).

  2. Push the RESET button located in the driver's side instrument panel fuse block.

  3. The CHANGE OIL light will start to flash.

  4. Press and release the RESET button again. The CHANGE OIL light will go off, and the LOW TIRE PRESSURE light will start to flash.

  5. Press and hold the RESET button again until the chimes sound. If the LOW TIRE PRESSURE light does not go off, then see your dealer for service.

CALIBRATION

The system normally takes 15 to 20 minutes of driving in each of three speed ranges to "learn" tire pressures. The speed ranges are: 15 to 40 mph, 40 to 65 mpg, and above 65 mph. When learning is complete, the system will alert you after 2-8 minutes if a tire is 12 psi different from the other three tires. Detection thresholds may be higher and detection times longer on rough roads, curves and high speeds. The system is not capable of detection at speeds greater than 75 mph.

1999-2001 Corvette

If a tire pressure message appears on the DIC, a chime will be heard. Press the RESET button to acknowledge the warning. The message will reappear after a timed interval if the problem has not been corrected. Once the condition causing the warning message is corrected the error message should not return after pressing the RESET button.

2002-2003 Corvette

To remove or clear the "CHECK TIRE PRESSURE" message, you will need to set the tire(s) to the proper tire pressure

2003 Monte Carlo

TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR RESET PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT:  There are 3 different ways to reset the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) system. After resetting, the TPM system requires up to 30 minutes of straight line driving in each of the 3 speed ranges to complete the calibration process, for further information, refer to Tire Pressure Monitor Description and Operation. If the TPM system does not reset, or DTC C1245 remains current, refer to Diagnostic System Check - Tire Pressure Monitoring.

Using the exterior lamp switch

  1. Adjust all tire pressures to the recommended kPa/psi.

  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

  3. Cycle the exterior lamp switch from OFF to parking lamps 3 times within 5 seconds.

  4. Use the scan tool in order to clear the TPM DTC.

Using the RDS radio, if equipped

  1. Adjust all tire pressures to the recommended kPa/psi.

  2. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON, with the engine OFF.

  3. Turn the radio OFF.

  4. Press and hold the DISP button until SETTINGS is displayed.

  5. Press the SEEK up or down arrows until TIRE MON is displayed.

  6. Press the PREV or NEXT button to enter the submenu. RESET will be displayed.

  7. Press the DISP button, A chime will sound and DONE will be displayed.

  8. Scroll until EXIT is displayed.

  9. Press the DISP button to exit the TPM reset mode. A chime will sound to verify exit.

  10. Use the scan tool in order to clear the TPM DTC.

Using the scan tool

  1. Adjust all tire pressures to the recommended kPa/psi.

  2. Install the scan tool.

  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

  4. With the scan tool select Special Functions.

  5. Select TIM Reset.

  6. Press the Reset soft key.

  7. Use the scan tool in order to clear the TPM DTC.

2004 Monte Carlo
